A context holds one gateway URL, an optional default model, launcher selections, and its own keyring credentials. Use one context per environment. The first context you add becomes current. Deleting the current context makes the first remaining context current. Contexts cannot be renamed; add a new one and delete the old one.

Work across environments

Credentials, SSO sessions, assigned-key selections, and persistent agent configuration all belong to a context. Switching contexts switches every credential at once. Coding agents launched from the CLI use the current context or the one passed with --context.
bifrost config set base-url keeps the context’s stored credentials, which are then sent to the new URL. To point at a different gateway, add a new context instead. Changing the URL from the interactive launcher clears the context’s SSO session.
An ad hoc --base-url without --context uses no stored credentials; only credential environment variables apply.

Where credentials are stored

Environment variables and CI

Environment variables override stored values, which is useful in CI: For CI, prefer BIFROST_BASE_URL plus BIFROST_VIRTUAL_KEY or BIFROST_MANAGEMENT_KEY from your secret store. Browser SSO is for interactive use.
